THE CHARLESTON SAILING CUP

TEAM BUILDING REGATTA

Regattas are three hours long and the times are arranged to fit your group’s schedule.  Race participants arrive at the Charleston Harbor Marina at Patriot's Point 15 minutes prior to boarding their vessels.  The Sailing Yachts and Racers set sail for the racecourse at the scheduled time while going over the racecourse and familiarizing themselves with the boat while the Captain completes his briefing.  Vessels are positioned for the race start.  The race begins with a staggered start, and each group races as their team works together to round the three markers of the racecourse.  Team members include:  helmsmen, navigators, radio operators/time keepers, line handlers, grinders and course lookouts.  The race will be complete when each vessel rounds the course 2 times and the first vessel across the finish line is the winner.  Following the race the vessels may have time for a fun sail to unwind, relax, enjoy just being out on the water and can discuss their team effort and how they performed in the race.  Then everyone will dock their vessels and disembark at the Charleston Harbor Marina Resort.

The Team Building Regatta provides:

1)Experienced United States Coast Guard licensed

   Captain aboard each boat.

2)Official race course.

3)Sailing Instruction.

4)Official race start boat.

5)Sailing vessels ranging from 33 to 55 feet.

6)Fuel.

7)Dockage.

8)Boat deliveries.

9)Bottled water and soft drinks.

10)Charleston Sailing Cup T-Shirt.

11)Crew gratuity.  Crew gratuity is standard for any yacht charter.  With this included those participants aware of charter etiquette will not feel compelled to tip the crew.

12)Not only the opportunity to participate in the team building experience, but also a magnificent view of beautiful Charleston Harbor and her historical sites, and have some fun!

Some groups may wish to begin their regatta experience with a champagne toast.

Team hats, coozies and T-shirts are also available, as well as trophies for the winning team!

T-shirts with the above “Charleston Sailing Cup” logo are included for each racer.

Less guests may participate, but minimum payment for 12 guests required.

REGATTA INSTRUCTIONS

Monitor VHF radio channel 10.

One race course we sometimes do:

Head South over starting line between red-black "1" buoy and red "32" buoy.

Head East and round red "26" buoy.

Head Northwest and round green "1" buoy and Southwest back across start/finish.

Each crew selects three helmsman.  Helmsman will alternate each leg after buoy is rounded.

Team time keeper will man handheld VHF radio channel 10, and set time 5 minutes to start.

Remaining crew will serve as grinders, line handlers and course lookouts (manning binoculars, etc.)

as needed.

FOR YOUR COMFORT

We recommend you bring sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, camera, long-sleeves, deck shoes and a good attitude!  During winter months we recommend you bring the same as above, but be sure to dress in layers for the weather.  You can always discard clothing!

Fees vary depending on boat size and number of passengers.

CATERING

Catering options available upon request.  No charge for catering secured through AquaSafaris.  There may be a galley fee for outside catering.  Rates vary between vessels.  Outside caterer must contact AquaSafaris 7 (seven) days prior to charter date for briefing.  Please remember that you are always welcome to bring aboard your own food and drinks.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY

AquaSafaris, Inc. requires a 50% deposit to confirm your charter.  We accept credit cards, traveler’s checks, cashiers checks and money orders for the 50% deposit.  Balance is the day of the charter.  Cash is always preferred for gratuity.  We cannot accept personal or company checks unless received ten (10) days in advance of the charter.  All deposits are fully refundable if weather causes cancellation of your charter.  Said cancellation is at the sole discretion of the Captain.  If YOU cancel the charter, no refund applies.  If you reschedule, your deposit will apply to your new charter date.
