The Custom 55 starts with a proven hull confguration from noted multi-hull designer Kurt Hughes. It was in fact, the very first sailing catamaran design certified by the United States Coast Guard to carry passengers for hire. Today's Custom 55 has evolved into perhaps the most practicle modern charter catamaran available! This design utilizing minimal freeboard, unobstructed deckspace while accommodating 100 passengers with fixed seating for 67 guests. We have created the perfect platform for groups of all ages, especially those with physical limitations.
The Custom 55 is also amazingly operator friendly. Mounted inboard diesels with sail drives are both space, and cost effective, affording exceptional stability, control, and manueverability. There is a clear view from the helm unobstructed by passengers. The Captain can easily operate under power and/or sail with all sails and running gear well clear of guests, and entirely managed by a single operater.
Her incredible versality as a charter vessel makes the Custom 55 many things to many diverse groups, whether accommodating a fully catered wedding or special event, beaching the vessel on an island, snorkeling from the bow, or sailing at speeds in excess of 20 knots!
What is most impressive is that a performance charter sailing catamaran with a 100 passenger coastwise rating and over 600 cubic square feet of storage is priced under $500,000! When compared to other vessels in it's class, no other charter sailing catamaran comes close.
